Aretha Franklin –  Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You

Is this the greatest album by the greatest singer?

There’s an argument for that.

Here’s a funny historical side note. Check out this excerpt from Rolling Stone Magazine’s original review of this album when it came out:

“…The drums weren’t hard enough, the guitar was weak, and the production lacked polish…”

Huh.

Well, this IS the same magazine that listed Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band as the greatest album of all time. Which is horseshit.

When you go back and listen to Never Loved A Man The Way I Love You, do it deep track-style. Go listen to Aretha sing A Change Is Gonna Come.

Go do that.

Jesus, what a singer …
